Scott County Jail
The Scott County Jail was built in 1897 and is the main detention facility for Scott County, Iowa, USA.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Scott County Jail )〕 Inmates are housed no more than one year, by Iowa law.〔 An annex was built on to the jail in 1983.
The jail is a four story building, and faces south on West Fourth Street in Downtown Davenport. It is in the same building as the Scott County Courthouse and is connected via a skywalk to the Davenport Police Station. The jail has a capacity of 354 inmates. In 1999, the capacity was capped at 214. A $29.7 million upgrade expanded the housing to the current 354.〔 The annex was closed when the main jail was remodeled, and thus no longer houses inmates. 〔
==1897 jail==
The oldest section of the jail was completed in 1897. It was designed by prominent Davenport architect Frederick G. Clausen in the Italianate style. The style, which was popular in the late Victorian Era can be found in the limestone's rusticated finish on the lower stories and then rising to a smooth finish at the attic level. Other elements include the smaller scale, round arched windows across the third-floor, the wide eaves and the tower on the building's north side.〔 It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
